About Magyar Club of Dayton
The Magyar Club of Dayton serves the Dayton, OH community by organizing and promoting a diverse range of Hungarian cultural activities and programming. Since its establishment in 1963, the organization has dedicated itself to preserving and celebrating the rich arts, literature, music, science, and cultural heritage of Hungary. The club facilitates monthly meetings held on the first Sunday of each month (excluding September and December for special events), providing members with opportunities to engage in meaningful cultural exchange and social interaction. These gatherings feature shared meals and cover dishes, creating an inclusive environment where members can connect over Hungarian traditions and contemporary interests. The Magyar Club of Dayton welcomes all individuals interested in Hungarian culture—membership is not restricted to those of Hungarian descent. With over 100 active members, the organization maintains a vibrant community that participates in signature events including the annual Heritage Dinner Dance, seasonal celebrations, and the popular Bacon Fry. The club also organizes the Eastern European Heritage Event (EEHE) and offers cultural programming such as Hungarian language classes via Zoom. Members benefit from a supportive community network, including a Sunshine Committee that provides care and connection during times of need. Annual membership dues are affordable at $20 per person, making participation accessible to all interested individuals in the greater Dayton area.
